1950s National Silver Co. Silver On Copper ICE BUCKET w. Vacuum Glass Liner
This is a 1950s National Silver, Cavalier Copperware, silver plate ICE BUCKET with vacuum sealed glass liner and a lid lifting mechanism.
This ice bucket is silver plate over copper.
The ice bucket measures 7 3/4 in (19.75) in diameter and the bucket itself is 7 1/2 in (19cm) high to the top of the lid hinge.
The ice bucket measures 12 1/2 in (32cm) from base to the top of the handle.
The hallmark back stamp reads: Cavalier Copperware National Silver 709.
Cavalier made silver over copper in Holland and England. I believe this piece was manufactured in Holland.
The ice bucket has an engraved inscription banner MAJOR AB ADVERSIS (greater through adversity) with a unicorn and stag above it as well as a engraved tiger on the lid.
The bucket is footed and is decorated with a narrow repeating pattern at the shoulder and at the base of the foot.
The handle is attached to a rod hinged at both ends that lifts the lid when the handle is lowered toward the back. The handle can lay flat when it is removed from the sides. It remains attached to the lifting rod.
The liner is thermal vacuum sealed glass that is friction fit with a cushioned liner inside the metal bucket.
The Ice buck it in excellent condition. No dents, no silver wear marks.
