1937 Disney Grumpy Egg Cup Snow White W.D. Ent. Made in Japan Vintage Rare

A rare piece of animation history — this Grumpy egg cup dates to 1937, the same year Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Los Angeles on December 21st, forever changing the landscape of American film.

Produced as part of the wave of licensed Disney merchandise that accompanied the film's release, this egg cup features Grumpy in glossy, vividly saturated glaze — the kind of rich, hand-finished colour you simply don't see in later reproductions. The backstamp reads "1937 W.D. Ent. Made in Japan," confirming its place among the earliest wave of officially licensed Disney character ceramics manufactured in Japan for the American market.

Condition: Excellent, original 1937 production — as seen in photos, there is a 1cm chip on Grumpy's boot that occurred during original manufacture and was glazed over at the time, making it a factory-era flaw rather than a later repair or damage. There is also a production flaw in that there is a separation between the feet.
