This RARE AYNSLEY Orchard Gold Tea Cup and Saucer are signed N Brunt 1039/746. This wide open footed tea cup is an all fruit pattern inside and out. The cup is 4 inches in diameter and 2 1/4 inches high. The saucer is 5 7/8 inches in diameter. Both Tea cup and saucer are signed N Brunt.
The back stamp on the cup is marked 1039 and the saucer is marked C746. The vintage is 1940s. Both the cup and the saucer PING nicely. The gold in the well of the saucer has very light scratch marks as expected. The cup is in very good condition with the gold intact on the handle, the flared foot, and on the rim. The cup handle has MINOR CRAZING (shown photo) at the join of handle and the top of the cup that can only be seen under magnification. This wear is a feature of the high profile handles typical of Orchard Gold pattern. Both cup and saucer are absolutely stunning on display and perfectly usable. This set is in very good condition and has no cracks, no chips, and no repairs. The price reflects the imperfection.
