This is a RARE commemorative mug by Royal Doulton in celebration of the August 9th, 1902 Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandria.  The blue and cream mug with gilt rim, is decorated with portraits of the King and Queen, the Royal insignia, and an inscription as follows.  "Borough of Wisbech/ Tea given by John Baker Esq./ to 3,500 Children/ ALDERMAN/ John Goward I.P./ MAYOR"  The Coronation of King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Queen Alexandra (1844-1925) at Westminster Abbey took place on 9th August 1902, which was postponed from 26th June 1902 due to the King falling ill. The mug is in good antique condition.  It is crazed as expected and has only two chips at the underneath edge of the mug along its touch point. Gold is in good condition, the under side markings are easily readable as are the portraits and inscription.
